April 2025 Insights

Hello again!
Last month the Insight staff enjoyed a weekend away for some professional development at the Canadian Biblical Counselling Coalition conference held in Oakville. The topic this year was on our identity in Christ. One significant takeaway for me was the reminder that we are engaged in incarnational ministry. This means that we, like Jesus, seek to meet people where they are at in life, offer the hope of the gospel that God not only forgives sins but also empowers His people through the Spirit to actually live life in a way that is pleasing to Him.

Change is possible not because of who we are, but because of whose we are!

Insight had our ministry booth set up at the conference. I had a number of conversations with people interested in biblical counselling training. I also spoke with two individuals who flew in from Edmonton who are pursuing biblical counselling training and interested in growing a counselling ministry at home in Alberta. Exciting things going on across this country! I personally was able to do some more networking with like-minded ministries across Ontario and also to make some connections with a group of executive directors of counseling centres in the USA.

Next month we hope to take our booth to Heritage College and Seminary for the Gospel Kids conference which will be another great opportunity to network and be further equipped for the ministry work we do.

I am thankful for the support of Dunnville Grace Reformed Church and Redemption Canadian Reformed Church who have recently signed on to our Church Assistance Program (CAP). CAP churches support their members through the payment of a predetermined number of counselling sessions so those in their churches who are in need of biblical counselling can come to Insight and receive that care without added financial burden. We currently have 16 CAP churches- we are grateful for your partnership in the ministry!

The need for biblical counselling is still growing. Requests for counselling continue to come in. This month we will conduct interviews for another female counsellor to help meet those needs.

We will also be conducting interviews for a new Administrative Assistant, as Valerie will be retiring this summer. We are still receiving applications for this position- contact me for more details.

I don’t know about you, but I am so looking forward to warm spring weather! Blessings to you all as you celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus this month! He is our Hope!

Registration is NOW OPEN for our annual Sweet & Savoury Fundraiser taking place Friday, June 6th at The Wood Shed in St. Ann’s! Come and enjoy delectable desserts and charcuterie as we raise funds for the growing need of Biblical Counselling in our community.
